Dr. Laura C. Hudson graduated with her B.S. degree in Biology with a concentration
in Biotechnology from UNC-Greensboro in 2001. Laura began her Master’s program in the
lab of Dr. Neal Stewart to work on the engineering of pollen to express a green
florescent protein (GFP), which was used for tracking the movement of transgenic plant
pollen in the environment. She received a Master of Science degree in Plant Science
from the University of Tennessee in 2003. In August 2003, Laura accepted a graduate
research program at North Carolina State University in the Department of Plant Pathology
to pursue her Ph.D. under Dr. Eric Davis. Her dissertation research involved investigating
the potential activity of plant cellulose synthase (CesA) in nematode feeding
cells. Laura received her Ph.D. in December of 2008. She has recently joined the lab
of Dr. Ken Piller, and will be working on the development of plant-derived edible vaccines. |
