Tuition Remissions / Waivers

All eligible non-resident masters' students can apply to receive a non-resident tuition differential (NRTD) for 6-8 credit hours. To be eligible, students must:

  • hold a teaching or research assistantship
  • have a GPA of 3.0 or above
  • enroll for minimum of 6-8 credit hours/semester (master’s level or above)

This plan does not pay for resident tuition, health insurance, or fees.

Funding is for a maximum of 4 semesters (starting the first semester the student admitted to master’s program).  Interested students should notify the Graduate Coordinator

Domestic NR master’s students will be limited to two semesters of NRTD funding and are encouraged to apply for NC residency for tuition purposes.

Limited funds are also available to defray the tuition costs for North Carolina residents for the academic year (fall and spring semesters). Students do not normally apply for these awards; instead they are awarded by the Department to attract strong applicants.
